I think the message is lovely and can apply to us all the time, not just during Christmas.</p><p>Jo asked us to think about Christmas books that we enjoy. I chose two, one as an adult and the other I read to children. My adult book is "Shepherd's Abiding" by Jan Karon. If you read and enjoyed the Mitford series, this is the book for you. Years ago I was an elementary teacher I read this charming book to my class at Christmas time, it is called "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas". This book has long been out of print but a few years ago I found a copy in a used book store. I was so happy to see it and it took me right back to some very happy days as a teacher. The illustrations are charming too!</p><p style="text-align: center;">I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and let's hope for a good new year!<br /></p>Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16292519625560497199noreply@blogger.com33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4339813304048193885.post-57686252148458509922020-04-10T10:49:00.001-07:002020-04-10T10:49:17.856-07:00Easter Blog HopHi there all you cloud friends! I hope December is going well for all of you. Today is my day for a post on the Christmas Blog Hop. This is organized by Jo over at Serendipitious Stitching. She is an amazing stitcher so be sure to visit her blog. Thanks Jo, for all the work you do in organizing this blog hop.<br />
Here is the piece I have chosen to share with you.<br />
<br />

<br />
This is a sampler that is available in the Blackbird Designs book, " The Bells on Christmas Day'" The sampler is based on an old one that is shown in the book. It was a joy to stitch. I did make several color changes so if you have any questions about that feel free to email me and I can give you the conversions. The words Peace on Earth appear on the sampler so I plan to keep it up all year. Those sentiments are good for all of the time.<br />

I did want to share the beautiful frame I have used for this piece. It was done by Valley House Primitives. They do a wonderful job. It was the perfect design and color for the piece. Janet is always so helpful with color and design ideas. In addition she is a joy to work with!<br />
<br />
I hope all of you are able to enjoy this beautiful season of Advent and I wish all of you the Merriest of Christmases!<br />

I think that is such a fun and spooky verse. This took quite awhile to stitch as there is a lot of solid stitching. However, I really enjoyed working on this project. The letter I am sharing with you today is the letter H. Now hop on over to http://janalynmarie.blogspot.com// to see more Halloween stitching and get another letter!<br />
Thanks for visiting and again, a very Happy Halloween!!!!!Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16292519625560497199noreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4339813304048193885.post-58189413820744149562019-07-07T12:18:00.000-07:002019-07-07T12:18:25.425-07:00Patriotic StitchingHi there cloud friends! Yes , I am still alive and doing just fine here in the cool and beautiful NW! First, I want to tell you all about a super give away . My friends over at the blog Stitching Friends Forever are having a very generous give away. Plus you will love the blog. They have so many wonderful stitching ideas and their finishing is inspirational!<br />
I have enjoyed some great patriotic stitching so far this summer. Now I am sort of moving on to some samplers. Right now I am working on a BBD design in their wonderful book" The Bells on Christmas Day." I am doing the big sampler in that book. So far I love it. I think it will be up all year as it says Peace On Earth and I think that is good for all the time!! Well, on to the patriotic things.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbhBC3VtBtOafK_RLHnVKLxdCR-sLFEbRuX1wGeI8ILcr0HnPFfE6u5JNixiJYOODCoxwou9dp3zemmJBrarCDVvL-CvxK4QmoBHSD8jL1RzXEiv-8rg67QT7njECQXWDSBGr_ENQkyV9Z/s1600/DSCN7998.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbhBC3VtBtOafK_RLHnVKLxdCR-sLFEbRuX1wGeI8ILcr0HnPFfE6u5JNixiJYOODCoxwou9dp3zemmJBrarCDVvL-CvxK4QmoBHSD8jL1RzXEiv-8rg67QT7njECQXWDSBGr_ENQkyV9Z/s320/DSCN7998.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This one is Strawberries and Stripes by With Thy Needle and Thread. I will make it into a small pillow and add to my bowl.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAbLHTxcUqhM_9jNfqkFR_1st4jTSKXNCGggot8-IQrvwFK7ri4wbcqm8gLkpvcrMwBJuedOEVaUmXyBqYD7BpH1ARoPMh7iQ6hVbzOHBR3wEjQj-zTFIYIHraNC2XpQXU9wTRDMb8ThEb/s1600/DSCN8000.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAbLHTxcUqhM_9jNfqkFR_1st4jTSKXNCGggot8-IQrvwFK7ri4wbcqm8gLkpvcrMwBJuedOEVaUmXyBqYD7BpH1ARoPMh7iQ6hVbzOHBR3wEjQj-zTFIYIHraNC2XpQXU9wTRDMb8ThEb/s320/DSCN8000.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The minute I saw this design I knew I wanted to stitch it. It is Where Liberty Dwells by With thy Needle and Thread. I changed the red to 3777. I like to use barn reds in most of my stitching. The star part got a bit boring but I love the end result!! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Finally I stitched Patriotic Houses by Waxing Moon. I will also be doing the Halloween Houses . These were such fun and quick to stitch. I'm still working on a final finish for this one.</div>

It is a great summer for hydrangeas. If you have them, be sure to check on the alum trick. I can keep them as cut flowers for well over a week using the alum.</div>

It's been awhile I know. I read blogs everyday but just get lazy about posting. Today, though , I have something special to share with you. As you know, I love ,love the frames by Valley House Primitives. They go perfectly with my style of decorating. So whenever I stitch a special piece, I order a frame from them. I stitched Prairie Schooler Christmas Village. Now that was a big job. I wanted a special frame for it so I contacted Janet. She asked if I needed it before Christmas. I said it would be nice but I didn't know their schedule and I was late in requesting the frame. She said they would do their best and that was all I expected. You can imagine how surprised and pleased I was in a week or ten days to hear the frame was ready . Janet always sends me an invoice and I pay using paypal. Well instead of the invoice, I got an email from Janet saying the frame was to be a gift from her and Mike. It made my day , no month , no year! How very generous they are. The frame is beautiful and will always be so special to me because of their generosity. What a way to get cheered up after carpel tunnel surgery and to feel the real Christmas spirit!<br />

The way I stitched this was to do one house after each project I stitched during the year. I started it last January and after stitching three houses I knew I had to space them out.</div>

This shows how beautifully the frame looks with the design. All the golds and browns are really enhanced by the frame.</div>

I chose this for my last picture for two reasons. The first because it shows off the beautiful frame very well. The second because going to Church and celebrating the birth of Jesus is the most important part of Christmas to me.</div>

Thank you for joining me today and a very special thank you again to Janet and Mike of Valley House Primitives!!</div>

Thanks to Jo of Serendipitous Stitching for organizing this fun holiday hop. I was happy to get December 2 as my day. This is the first Sunday in Advent. Some recognize this as the Sunday of Hope. So I have chosen a fairly old design to share with you today. It is "A Weary World Rejoices" by Shakespeare"s Peddler. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipkg8_nw8-Qe7Q57IrnZisLNiyEXV3aBf5kOtpKtS-qcaa2Hp8567v1yoVfZJ_ACpshggh78pR3nL_eePXsnRZ4QiDGDuM_k0Z8Sceyoij-YsAABfkNv8Brif76HxlKL2vIXBoQADMC-gs/s1600/DSCN7642.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipkg8_nw8-Qe7Q57IrnZisLNiyEXV3aBf5kOtpKtS-qcaa2Hp8567v1yoVfZJ_ACpshggh78pR3nL_eePXsnRZ4QiDGDuM_k0Z8Sceyoij-YsAABfkNv8Brif76HxlKL2vIXBoQADMC-gs/s400/DSCN7642.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
This was also the best choice because one of my favorite Christmas songs is" O Holy Night". I am sorry not to have a recording of that song for you, but not being very tech savvy, I was not sure how to load a song on my blog. I'm sure you have heard the song many times during the Christmas Season. Thanks again Jo and a very Merry Christmas to all of you!Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16292519625560497199noreply@blogger.com29tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4339813304048193885.post-63234398509559707752018-10-31T09:01:00.001-07:002018-10-31T09:01:56.120-07:00Happy Halloween!!A very Happy Halloween to all of you and welcome to Jo's Halloween Blog Hop! This is Halloween Hornbook Sampler by Plum Street Samplers. My beautiful frame was made by Janet over at Valley house Primitives. I believe it is the tombstone design. Now to play a bit. My letter is L. If you collect all the letters hop on over to Jo at Serendipitous Stitching and give her the spooky phrase. A special thanks to Jo for organizing this fun blog hop. <br />

I thought I would get in one post before August is gone. Here in the NW we have had the hottest, driest, smokiest summer ever!! That being said, I am ready for Fall !! At times our air was more polluted than China. We have had forest fires to the north, east, and south so there was no avoiding the smoke. Our worst conditions came from the fires in British Columbia. There were several days when we were told to stay indoors as much as possible. Thank goodness we put in AC three years ago. However, my garden has done well and I have spent many hours watering!! If you just like to see stitching then just look at my first few photos. After that, I will take you on a tour of my dahlias!<br />
<br />

This is called First Winds of Autumn. It is a Blackbird design. It was part of the Ladies Prim Society. The colors on my photo are drab. The real piece is full of lovely vibrant Fall colors. It was designed to be a strawberry. As you all know, finishing is not really my thing so a strawberry was out of the question. I had to add to the bottom border so that it will fit into an antique frame that I have. It was a wonderful piece to stitch! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my current project. I was not able to get a good picture. All I have left is the house. I am changing the color of the house as a white one will not show up very well on my linen. I am thinking of a sage green. That will look good with the pretty Autumn colors.</div>

By the end of my post, you will understand it. First, thank you Jo, of Serendipitous Stitching , for figuring out a way to get comments back on our emails. I know several others have done the same work for us bloggers but I used Jo's plan so I am thanking her. Now, it's time to share stitching.<br />

I really enjoyed stitching the 1861 Antique Sampler by BBD in the book "In Friendship's Way." I love the note that said when the ladies bought the old sampler they noted the date of 1861. That was the year Abraham Lincoln was elected. This young ladies world was about to change forever. I did make lots of color changes!!</div>

For now it is framed in a beautiful frame made by Janet at Valley House Primitives. The frame is for my Grim Gourds so this sampler is just borrowing the frame for awhile till I decide exactly what to do with it.<br />

Now for the birds! Every year we have a very low tide in the summer. There is one particular beach that attracts the eagles. We counted 25 of them all feasting on the beach goodies. I like this photo because I caught two of them facing opposite directions. I call it ,"Which way should we go now?"</div>

It's been a long time since I showed any photos of the beautiful NW. Last week, my DH and I decided it was time for a road trip down to Oregon. We had never been to the Columbia Gorge so that was our destination. We did make a short stop in Portland but then headed to Hood River. There are many waterfalls along the road. The problem was that a fire last summer made most of them not available. The roads and trails to them were still closed. We did manage to see two beautiful falls. My new discovery however, was the Fruit Loop Road out of Hood River. There were orchards of cherries, pears, and apples and a few wineries along the way. All in the shadow of magnificent Mt. Hood. The countryside was beautiful even on a cloudy rainy day! This area is also known for micro-breweries., so each day with supper I tried a new seasonal beer.<br />

Just a small picture of the Fruit Loop Road. I really want to go back here in the Fall when all the fruits are being harvested. It would be fun. Apparently each little town has a harvest festival.</div>

Here in the US we are celebrating Memorial Day. First, I think we need to remember all the brave men and women who have lost their lives in service to our country. A wonderful way to remember is to watch the Memorial Day program from the Capital. We watch it every year. It was on our local public tv station last night. I have been told that Veteran's Day is the day to celebrate those who are living vets or in the service at this time. However, I can not help but say a prayer of thankfulness that our son made it home after two tours in Iraq. So Happy Memorial Day to Jeff and his lovely wife Kacey and their wonderful children, Ian, Caleb, and Hannah.<br />

That's a good question where have I been! Thanks to those of you who mentioned my absence, I appreciate your concern. I have heard of loosing your mojo for stitching, I have not had that problem but I sort of did loose it for blogging. I read blogs almost everyday but just didn't post. I think it was partly due to the fact that I was stitching a big piece. Anyway all is just fine and I will share my finally finished "Early Americans." I do need to give lots of thanks to Vonna of the "Twisted Stitcher" blog. I used her border which she so generously shared. As I have mentioned before, my DH has done lots of genealogy. In the process of his investigations, he found that I have 4th great grandfather who fought in the Revolutionary War. Both is wife and mother did things to help the Army so the DAR recognizes them as patriots as well. I have another patriot in my direct line but I have not included him as I have not gone through the DAR process to establish him as my patriot. When I started this project , I knew I wanted to honor my family. It again was dear Vonna who suggested I use the middle block to personalize my design. I adapted a LHN chart called."Old Glory" in designing the middle block. I have a new found respect for all the wonderful people who design the charts we all love. It was much more of a challenge than I expected!!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
I must share one thing that really impressed me about the charts. I noticed that there were lots of houses that were similar in color. I thought I would change a few. Thank goodness, before I did that I looked on line at the real houses of the patriots. Much to my surprise, the houses on the chart were very much like the real houses. The designer at LHN did a remarkable job in recreating the actual, houses!! I love history so this just made my day!!!!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is my family square. Capt. Gatliff joined the Revolutionary Army in 1778 so I chose that date. Again as a nod to history, the dates on all the charts were personalized to the particular person honored in that square. Along with Capt. Gatliff, Christiana, his wife and Martha , his mother are considered patriots by the DAR.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
My final way to honor this design was to frame it in a wonderful frame by my favorite framers at Valley House Primitives!! Janet worked very hard with me to get the perfect frame for my piece. My goal was to have this framed and up by May when I put out lots of patriotic things. Thanks to Janet, I made my deadline!! This however, will hang in my hall all year around.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have stitched a few more things and promise I will do another post before the 4 months it took to do this post. Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you all have a wonderful week!</div>

I hope 2018 is going well for you. Things are just so so here. The DH and I have come down with a nasty virus, lots of coughing, nose blowing, and feeling very tired in general. Nothing serious thank goodness but enough to keep us pretty much house bound! At least I can work on my stitching and reading !! I did want to share with you some photos of our yard. While much of the country is freezing, we are mild and rainy here. Our weather was marvelous over the Martin Luther Week-end with temps in the 60's and sunshine. Too bad we felt too ill to really enjoy it! I am once again working on the LHN "Early Americans." I had a temporary stop when I realized I did not have all my floss. That's what happens when you buy the fabric and floss months before you stitch the project. I was missing several colors and did not have enough of several others. How did I ever make such a stupid error!!! I know from years of stitching that when you are using over-dyed floss, you need to buy enough for the entire project!! We all know about dye lot problems. Well, 123 Stitch came to my rescue but I did have to spend quite a bit of money to get the floss all matching. I just put the ones that I did not have enough of into my stash and used the new matching floss for my project. A big lesson learned.<br />

I can't let the holidays pass without a post and a chance to wish you all a great 2018! I hope all of you in the Eastern part of this country are staying warm. We have had a fairly quiet but very nice Christmas and New Years. We spent Christmas with our DD, and last night was a cozy evening at home. I even got in 2 hours of stitching on my new project. Which brings me to the photos.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
I have chosen LHN's "Early Americans" for my new project. I will be doing it on a large piece of linen with all the 9 squares together. The middle square should be fun to design. I have 2 Patriots in my direct line. Yes, I am a member of the DAR, not very active as I just hate to go to meetings! However, at Vonna's suggestion, I will be honoring them in the middle square. I want this project finished by Memorial Day as that is when I put up my patriotic designs. I am excited and happy to be doing this design.</div>

I stitched this Santa during December. He was lots of fun. I had seen him on Marly's blog and when Prairie Schooler reproduced the design, I bought it right away. His colors are much prettier. He looks a bit faded in the photo. By next December, he will be made into a pretty pillow.( I hope!) He is a fairly big guy even on 32 count. Too big for a pin keep.</div>

I have joined Jo again this year for her Advent Blog Hop. Thanks so much to Jo at Serendipitous Stitching for organizing this fun blog event. I am sharing a Christmas sampler this year.<br />

This sampler was offered last year by Melinda at Merry Wind Farm. She offers many beautiful samplers on her blog, Merry Wind Farm. Melinda called her sampler Emmaline Cole 1835. She suggested you could replace the name Emmaline with one of your ancestors. My DH is known as the family genealogist. So I turned to him for help. I wanted the name of a young girl who would have been a good age for stitching a sampler in the year 1835. We found several names on both sides of our family. I also considered the space I had to work with. In honor of his research, I chose his great great grandmother, Rebecca Morris. Rebecca would have been 10 years old in 1835. She is the perfect young lady for my sampler. Thanks to Melinda for designing this pretty little sampler and thanks to my DH for helping me find the right name for my sampler.<br />
I hope you will find this interesting. Jo wanted us to talk about what we do on Boxing Day. Years ago when I lived in Louisville and my sister lived in Cincinatti, we went to a store known as the Santa Shop. Everything was 50% off. I still have lots of wonderful things I bought at that store. Plus I have great memories of the time spent with my sister.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
A very Merry Christmas to all of you!!!</div>

As my title says, this is a long overdue post about Fall and a good-by to my favorite season. My DH and I lived in Schenectady NY many years ago. We decided this would be a good time to go back for a trip down memory lane. So in early October we spent a week near Albany and visited some of our favorite places. After we got home, we took a short day trip down to Tacoma. They have a wonderful waterfront where you can walk for a few miles right along the water. There are lovely views. Last but not least, I will share my Fall stitching.<br />

On to the stitching. This is Halloween Hornbook by Plum Street and the frame by wonderful Valley House Primitives!! It now hangs in my craft room with all my other Halloween designs I just can't put away when Oct. is over.</div>

If you are just starting and would like to collect the Halloween message, you need to go to Jo's blog first to get the first letter. Her blog is serendipitousstitching.blogspot.co.uk. Jo is the organizer of this fun event. Thanks Jo. I love to stitch for Halloween so it was difficult to choose a piece to share. I finally picked, " For Thine is the Trick or Treat" . I love Quaker designs and this one really was just perfect. The lovely frame was done by Valley House Primitives. <br />

Hi there cloud friends. I imagine some of you have given me up for lost. Well, I just don't know where time goes!! I have not been good with posting but I have been stitching so I will show you what I have been up to. This has been the nastiest summer I remember since we have moved to the NW several years ago. It was the hottest, driest summer on record. That plus all the fires in BC,Oregon, and here in WA have made it very smoky at times. We got AC a few years ago and this summer has made it so worthwhile. I am looking forward to a nice Fall even with the usual rain. I have kept my garden watered but our yard looks more like hay than grass. Well, on to some stitching.<br />
<br />

All of my finishes are from Plum Street Samplers. I have loved this one for a long time. It is called "Grim Gourds". I did use WDW Onyx for all the black in all three designs. I had lots left from last year's Ghoultide.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Plus I also used lots of GA Gingersnap. That has become my go to orange.</div>

Here we have A Bowl Full of Scaries, Scary One. This is a large pin keep that sits on a shelf in my powder room. I got that beautiful shelf many years ago at a yard sale at the Workshops of David T. Smith. I absolutely love his work. When I win the lottery, I am going to fly him out here and have him redo my kitchen! That is one of those battery operated timer candles. It looks so great in there after dark. The next pictures are of the dahlias in my garden. They are so beautiful right now.</div>

Isn't summer flashing by? I have heard many of you say that. We had a very busy beginning to summer that included a trip to Alabama, a visit from family, and the new floors. Things are finally settling down. The weather is Washington wonderful. Most days are in the low 80's or upper 70's. That is one of the main reasons we moved here, great summer weather. My garden is a bit slower due to a cool and rainy Spring but it is really lovely now. I do have some stitching to share with you.<br />

If you remember, I was stitching these houses late winter. We got another beautiful frame from Valley House Primitives. We scheduled it to come right after our trip to Alabama in June. Unfortunately we came home to the sandy mess of having our hardwood floors put in. Our family was due in 2 weeks so no time for framing my stitching. We finally got it done and as usual, Janet did a magnificent job!!!!!<br />

I could not be happier. I was a bit concerned because the design was busy. I now plan to stitch LHN's Early Americans. I know Janet will do a beautiful frame for that design too. I want to have it done for next summer so I have time for some Halloween things right now. I just started Plum Street's Grim Gourds, I'm loving it!!<br />

This is BBD's Light Upon the Lawn. It uses many of the same threads as Winter is Past. I plan to use some frames I have and hang them together in my upstairs hallway.The colors are way off in this photo. The linen is Lakeside Linen's Vintage Sand Dune, nothing like the photo! The blues look bright but in fact are very pretty! I'm not sure how many of this series I will do. I love the colors.</div>

The was my only patriotic stitch. It is from BBD's book called," Sweet Land of Liberty". That book has several wonderful designs. This design is also called Sweet land of Liberty. I'm not sure just how I will finish it but I want to get it done before I get busy on Fall things.<br />

It is such a beautiful day here in the Pacific NW, plenty of blue sky and moderate temps. The high on the 4th is predicted to be a nice cool 72, I call that just about perfect. I know many of you like it a bit warmer but that's just not me. Anyway, I want to share my stash from our recent trip to Alabama. I went to two shops and they are both just wonderful. First, I went to Cross Stitch Peddler in Decatur, AL. The second shop is in Huntsville and is called Patches and Stitches. Cross Stitch Peddler is all stitching and Patches and Stitches has a great collection of fabric as well as cross stitch supplies. I can't say enough about how helpful the ladies were in both shops. On one visit, the lady in Decatur even invited me to stitch with a group of ladies that stitch in her shop on a particular morning. If you are ever near either of these shops they are well worth a visit. If you are like me you will want to give them both lots of time!!!!!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv5-FM3hZlKnwIJqdv8Y-eskuCm9u9uyGI5ajg2fwJAMlrfC9pLl439UDc0az19krDqB1Yrn1fZMTpXAA_n6f8k9sFKNr7mV4j76RaPG_ly4WWYZMW_rLTV4myTcqX4psezN4eFTvAxM3k/s1600/DSCN5450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="976" data-original-width="1600" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv5-FM3hZlKnwIJqdv8Y-eskuCm9u9uyGI5ajg2fwJAMlrfC9pLl439UDc0az19krDqB1Yrn1fZMTpXAA_n6f8k9sFKNr7mV4j76RaPG_ly4WWYZMW_rLTV4myTcqX4psezN4eFTvAxM3k/s320/DSCN5450.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One thing I found very exciting was that you could find charts that are very hard to get. Notice the Halloween Game Board and the Prairie Moon charts. The shop owner( Cross Stitch Peddler) said that Prairie Moon is no longer in business. ( For anyone interested she had the chart for "Thine is the Trick or Treat"). All the charts were appropriately priced not as though they were hard to get.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7oQlqiFLTHhr2HUV0HKBU4WxsHwv0_b8qVrjLrya9dJhzmviTZLqdqI-FLuXL8y0flKypENftIcB46vS_n2pAlL8ygz8yXLQAHepobUWWEEGmRlBfIP7nbmXpIBk3gPMAjlNdNpNUnNFd/s1600/DSCN5451.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1017" data-original-width="1600" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7oQlqiFLTHhr2HUV0HKBU4WxsHwv0_b8qVrjLrya9dJhzmviTZLqdqI-FLuXL8y0flKypENftIcB46vS_n2pAlL8ygz8yXLQAHepobUWWEEGmRlBfIP7nbmXpIBk3gPMAjlNdNpNUnNFd/s320/DSCN5451.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have always felt so sad about what happened to the designer, Lisa, at the Primitive Needle. I love her charts and felt so lucky to get this one. That country sampler design was copyrighted in the 80's. I will be choosing my own color threads for that one but the design is delightful! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I think that is a fairly old BBD chart too. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I plan to stitch this one soon. As I have 2 Revolutionary War Patriots, I am thinking of substituting one of the names on the chart for my own ancestors. I bought all the floss and linen to do this one too. I am using the called for floss and a light tan linen by Lakeside Linen.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Sorry for the blue cast to the photos. I'm not sure why it is there. Well, I hope you all have a wonderful week-end and thanks so much for joining me today!!!!</div>

I have been really busy. Much busier than usual. First of all, we spent a week in Alabama celebrating Hannah's 4th birthday. Grandpa and I kept her home all week with us plus Caleb was out of school , so it was a busy week of fun filled days. We live so far from them ,that when we visit we make every minute count. Needless to say my DH and I came home very tired. While we were gone, we had some hardwood floors put in our home. We came home to the great dust bowl. The floors look great but we have spent every waking minute since we got home getting the house back in shape. We knew there would be some dust but really had no idea just how much. I think it was partly because we had them do a stairway that is open to the whole house.<br />
I will do another post to show you my stash. I was able to get to two shops and added a bit to my stash. I also got the beautiful frame for my LHN Sampler Houses from Valley House Primitives. The frame is beautiful. Now I just have to get my framer (better known as my DH) to spend some time putting it all together. So I'll start with some photos of the big party then show you my finish.<br />

I loved this design!! It is a BBD chart, Winter is Past. All the blues are so pretty and look really good in my house. I did use the charted floss but the linen was Lakeside Linen's Vintage Sand Dune.<br />
