Here you have, " Christmas Colors:MD's Sampler " by Shakespeare's Peddler. The designer indicated this was most likely done by a young girl due to the fact that all things are not quite even. The sampler is not dated or signed. I took the liberty of making some color changes. A somewhat aqua was used in the original. I substituted using golds and GA endive green.
There is a lot of bright red and green in this sampler. I used DMC 355 and 356 for the reds. I used the suggested greens except where I used the GA endive.
I love that little basket of fruit. I can't decide what to do with it now that I have finished. Should I just frame it or try to make a little wall hanging out of it? Any ideas?
When my DD was little, 4th-5th grade, she did a lot of cross stitch. These are Christmas gifts she made for us many years ago. You have seen the Woolpets she now makes. I am one lucky mother to have such a talented, sweet daughter!
Have a wonderful week! I hope you are all able to slow down and enjoy the beauty of this season!
Love your sampler! Good color changes! Your daughter is so talented! I love Amazon too - no packed malls!
ReplyDeleteYour finish is so pretty. I just love your DD's stitching!
ReplyDeletePretty finish, Barb ! Love the colors.. Cute ornaments that your daughter stitched !
ReplyDeleteYour MD Sampler looks great. I'm not sure if I would frame it or make a wall hanging out of it.. now big is it? Either way it will look great. I love that you stitched something just for Christmas. And to still have your daughter's things that she stitched is such a treasure!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish! I think I would have to frame that one. Sweet little ornaments made by your daughter too.
ReplyDeleteLove the stitching! And you are right, you can use it past the holidays. I think I would frame it. It would look nice upon a wall or propped up on a table. I see the apple didn't fall far from the tree! Your daughter has got talent! Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty sampler! And I love the little pieces of past - such sweet memories.
ReplyDeleteI love that sampler and will be adding it to my list. Beautiful colors. I think a standing frame on a table would be a great way to display, and those frames can always be hung too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish! Aww, the little cross stitched ornaments from when your daughter was small are lovely. It's wonderful that you kept them!
ReplyDeleteI still have most of the ornaments that my children once made and every year our tree is decorated with these ornaments. So we have a sort of memory tree.
ReplyDeleteYour finish is wonderful, a great sampler. I love the reds you used, 355 and 356 are my most favourite DMC reds and I love to use them, too. I think this little sampler would be great as a wallhanging, but would look great in a frame, too. This doesn't help, does it? Lol.
A hanging would be different.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out so pretty.
Love your Daughter's ornaments.
I have some old ones that I made when I first became a stitcher. They're a little "prim", but I put them on the tree anyway.
Thanks for sharing the pics.
Marilyn
Lovely sampler and don't you just love looking at those old ornaments your DD made? Takes you back to good times. :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful work!
ReplyDeleteThe sampler is lovely. Is there any way you could incorporate it into a tray? I saw a tray made from an old picture frame. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteOh How beautiful your sampler turned out Barb. I absolutely love the floss color changes you made. Definitively I would frame this one - it's spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSuper sweet ornaments your daughter had made. You taught your daughter well:) love Annette
ps Another option would be a flat fold to finish your sampler if you decide not to frame it. I think seeing it hanging will be beautiful, that's why I still think having it framed would be great. Can you frame it yourself?
love Annette
Lovely Christmas finish Barb! What treasures your DDs ornaments are. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteYour finish is beautiful and I love the colors you used! What a treasure of ornaments from your daughter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sampler finish, Barb and how sweet that your daughter had a needle in her hand even way back then :)
ReplyDeleteYour sampler is beautiful Barb and will look lovely in a frame.
ReplyDeleteSweet little ornament that your daughter stitched all those years ago.
It was my daughter (when she was young) that got me started on cross stitch too :)

I remember making those little mice ornaments! Mom encouraged my creativity from the start!
