Thoughts on July 4th
I have always been very interested in the Revolutionary War. Two of my favorite characters of that time are John and Abigail Adams. When I saw that the Ladies Prim Society had for their summer project a chart by BBD called "A Salute to Abigail", I immediately joined. On the chart was printed a portion of a letter from John to Abigail. I think that it is almost poetic. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Happy 4th of July Barb! Lovely stitching and letter!! May you have good fireworks tonight!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful! I'll be watching for the finish. Enjoy today and be safe!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post Barb.
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, oh - I love it Barb! Love the chart and have always admired John and Abigail. I'm old enough to have watched as a teenager the Adams Chronicles on PBS back in 1976. A wonderful series.
ReplyDeleteI'm back! Just had to share. We're watching A Capitol Fourth on PBS and that very letter was quoted. Unfortunately it was interrupted by Miss Piggy, but I was intrigued by the timing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen that design before, but it's beautiful - and will fit right in with your patriotic pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love this piece and have it started!! Did you watch the John Adams miniseries?
ReplyDeleteSo pretty ! Can't wait to see it finished !
ReplyDeleteWhat a special piece!
ReplyDeleteI am still toiling through the first of two needlepoint Christmas stockings for the twin - and longing to be starting a new cross stitch project. I won't let that happen, though, until the stockings are done.
Very interesting, the letter. And what a wonderful design BBD created with this new sampler.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely start on Salute to Abigail! I'm so far behind in my reading, and commenting, but I have really enjoyed seeing all of the wonderful patriotic stitching, and decorating too!
ReplyDeleteSalute to Abigail is looking great! Its going to be fantastic finished!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great sampler and I love the letter--that John Adams mini-series was incredible to watch!
ReplyDeleteWow! Another great sampler, Barb. I always love the pieces you choose to stitch - we have such similar tastes. Please remind me to join the Ladies Prim Society next year!
