A Stitchy Post and Dahlias

Hi to Everyone on the night of this terrible tragedy in Colorado.  It just another reminder of how fragile life is and we all need to appreciate all the very good people in our lives! Our prayers go out to those folks in Colorado.
I'm happy that the SBA is doing well.  The poor man had a root canal this morning but he's doing just great!
As you can see from the photo, I have added a few houses, birds , and a devil to Salem village.  I'm taking lots of liberties with the colors.  As I said before, the floss that the chart calls for is $7.20 a skein at the best price I could find.  Too much for me to spend! I'm havng more fun with it now that I have just ignored the colors and stopped tring to match the colors I have to the ones called for.
As I was deadheading, I decided to add a few pictures of my dahlias.  All of them made it through this winter.
Thank you so much for taking a look at this blog!!! I hope you will all have a great week-end.  I'm hoping for some interesting photos tomorrow!! If I can get them, it will be a nice surprise!

  1. Beautiful photos! I wish I lived closer, I would hire you to help me with my x stitch! I am self taught and not the greatest stitcher but trying! Love the dahlias! Sending good healing to your SBA, I have had three of them myself!!! Have a splendid weekend!

  2. I do hope the SBA continues to do well. Salem Village is coming along nicely --your color choices are great! I know I could not justify spending $7.20 on a skein of floss, either. The dahlias are beautiful!! I especially like the 2nd one pictured.

  3. I like the colors you are using to stitch Salem Village. My sister is president of the local dahlia society - she has around 250 planted out in her Dahlia Garden - the national show is on Portland, OR this September.

  6. The colors you've chosen are wonderful, Barb. I agree--no way am I spending that much for floss unless it is a huge masterpiece! (And you know you probably won't be seeing me stitch one of those!!)

Such pretty dahlias--mine aren't doing well this summer--not sure what the problem is...

Sure hope your husband recovers quickly--that sounds like a very painful procedure.
