An Update and a Road Trip

We woke up to a beautiful spring day here in the Pacific NW, so the DH and I decided to take a short road trip to a small town just south of Tacoma.  They have a few shops that I love to visit. Tacoma has a wonderful walking trail along the harbor so we decided to stop there for our walk and have lunch at one of the several restaurants along the water front.  Then we went on to Sumner, our final destination.

First, a quick update on "Slicker Bunny." All that is left is the cute flower umbrella, the whiskers, and the rain drops. My linen is more gray than the blue that shows in the photo.

All for only $6 dollars at the Safeway!

When we got out of the car, this is what we saw as we looked up.  I think the trees are a variety of maple as they are beautiful colors in the fall. Look at that deep blue sky!!

This is the view along the very long paved walkway.

Lunch time! It was very good!

The view out the window of the restaurant! I think he gets hand outs during the summer when the deck is open.

Here is one reason we went to visit Sumner.  This is one of the best antique shops in the area.

Along the sidewalk there were several little areas of plantings.

The plums are blooming.  We saw them everywhere.
Thanks so much for joining me today!!!!

  4. That looks like such a beautiful day for a spring outing. I feel guilty for all our great weather here when the rest of the country has been snowed in so long.

  7. Your header and your pictures have it all - all that represents spring: daffodils, blooming trees, blue skies and little stitched bunnies. I also feel the urge to go out into the garden and read my book there instead of inside. And our daily walks are so very enjoyable now.

  13. Your PS piece in your header is darling, Barb. I've been meaning to stitch that for so long now--not sure why I haven't picked it up! Love your progress on SB--he sure is a cutie, isn't he?

There are so many lovely towns and places of interest to visit out your way--what a beautiful part of the U.S.

  14. Looks like you had a great little day trip! Love those daffodils. I will have to make a stop by Trader Joe's soon to pick some up. They are very inexpensive there. Your slicker bunny is so cute! I am doing a bedroom cleanout and came across the pattern just yesterday. :)

  24. Oh, I'd have felt right at home at The New England Saltbox! What a fun day! And the Chowder House? Yummmm! I love your March header cross stitch!! Looks like it's much warmer your way than it is here in New England. I'm still staring at some snow on the ground and not a bud in sight. Soon hopefully! Have a great week!
