Cross Stitch and Flowers

Thanks so much for all the kind wishes you sent to sweet Hannah on her first birthday. I appreciated them so much.  Her parents don't read my blog so I sent them an email suggesting they take a look.  Both of them did and thank you also  for your wonderful comments!
I think  I'll just comment on the pictures instead of writing a lot here.

Here is Liberty Lane with the alphabet started and no words" Liberty Lane."  I do love it with the alphabet.  This part will be finished tonight.  The second row completes the alphabet and has the numbers 1-10.

This year I made a new goal for myself.  I decided to bring in my garden flowers so we would  enjoy them in the house. Here you see 3 types of peonies in the powder room.  They smell wonderful!

More peonies in the family room.

Roses on the island!

I planted a mock orange just for the smell of the flowers.  This afternoon I'm going out to cut a nice big branch.  It had just started blooming when I took this picture.

When I travel, I always enjoy seeing what kind of wild flowers grow along the roadside.  Each year I look forward to seeing the wonderful display of foxglove that we have here in the NW. They bloom along our roads where ever there is a sunny spot.

I hope you all have a wonderful week-end and celebrate Father's Day in great style!!  The DH and I are going to one of our favorite little towns and doing some antiquing!!

  5. Your Father's Day plans sound perfect, Barb! Enjoy!! I love how Liberty Lane is looking with the alphabet--what a great idea...

And those peonies! Lovely--I should really plant some myself. I wonder if the deer would eat them, too. We are just beyond frustrated with those flower eating creatures these days :)

Up here there are foxgloves in the ditches and at the sunny edges of the forest. I love them.

  10. Liberty Lane is coming along great and it will certainly be finished for display on July 4. A very nice design.
I love peonies and we also have some in our garden but not as many as you do. They look so beautiful in your house, too.
Foxgloves can be found here as well, they have such a wonderful colour.

  11. Your stitching is coming along nicely! How great that you are bringing the flowers inside. I should do that too, but I'm always worried that I'll be damaging the plant or bringing bugs in the house.

  12. Big, beautiful peonies. I think mine may be in too much direct sunlight?? That little Hannah is so sweet, I know her party was delightful.

  14. Liberty Lane looks wonderful ~ I can maybe see it in my future. :) Peonies and mock orange have to be two of the most heavenly fragrances there are. And I wish foxglove grew along the road here ~ they are so pretty.

  15. Your peonies are gorgeous. Ours are done but I really love bringing them in to the house. What a fragrance. I can NOT believe the foxglove! I've tried growing them for years. They are biennial here and hard to grow. I've given up. Enjoy them for me!
