Mostly Cross Stitch!

Tomorrow is the day we share our SAL, "Away We Ride".  The DH and I are planning a bit of a road trip so I won't be able to post my progress.  So I decided to do it today.  Plus, I wanted to show you the beautiful frame from Valley House Primitives that I have used to frame "Salute to Abigail". I love the way it looks!

If you like traditional framing, I think they are the best.  I can't find frames like this anywhere else.

This photo is more true to the color of the frame.

By the end of this evening, I hope the right border will be finished.  I am busy with another project for my dear friend who had knee replacement 4 weeks ago.  That has slowed this one down a bit.

I'm sure you are all tired of hearing me complain about our heat!  We did break the record on Mon. with temps of 97 degrees!  That evening we took our lawn chairs and went over to sit and read by the water.  The fires have created beautiful sunsets. I would gladly give up the sunsets for the fires to end!

Thanks for joining me and I hope you all have a great end of the week and a good week-end!  I hope to have some interesting photos from our little road trip to share with you next week!

  7. Salute to Abigail looks fantastic! So does your Away We Ride, although I'm envious of your progress on the border. I'm working on finishing the border on mine, and keep messing up my count. Look forward to your next progress pic!

  15. Salute to Abigail is wonderful - you found the perfect frame for it. We reached 101 on Monday. It was terrible! We did, finally, get one small 20 minute shower last evening so got maybe 0.1" of rain - at least it damped things down a bit and helped to clear the air.

  19. Abigail is beautiful in that frame. My mind also sees music staffs moving around it - it would be a great frame for a musical design, too!

  21. What a beautiful frame, just perfect for your sampler!
We've had quite a week of storms, but the temperature is much cooler and I'm hoping the fires further north are now under control!

  22. I agree, VHP frames are the best! I have 4 pieces framed with their frames and they are all stunning and some of my favorite pieces in my home. Your Salute is no exception...stunning work! I love your Away We Ride as well :)
You should be in the Midwest...our summer has been similar to what I'm sure you are used to. We have hardly been in the 90's at all this summer. Its been very odd. But I'm not complaining!!!

  23. What a lovely frame for Abigail! And you are making nice progress on Away We Ride. What gorgeous pictures! I'm really not sure where our summer has been. We've actually been chilly the last several nights. On the plus side we have been able to give our air conditioner a break. :)

  24. You chose a great frame for Abigail.
I hope that now that it has become a bit cooler the fires came to a halt. I love these sunset pictures. Must have been great to watch it in person.
