A Road Trip

Hi there cloud friends!  Last week my DH and I celebrated 37 years of marriage! It really doesn't seem that long at all.  Anyway, we decided to take a day trip to one of our favorite places in Washington, Hurricane Ridge.  This is in the Olympic National Park.  We had lunch in Port Angeles, a town on the Straits of Juan de Fuca.  I took lots of pictures to share with you.  I have been doing lots of stitching so that post will be next.  I hope you enjoy seeing a little bit of beautiful Washington.  The only negative part was the wild fires that are burning in the park.  We are hoping for some rain this week that just might put them out.

This is a view from the restaurant where we had lunch.  This is where the ferry to Victoria, BC docks.  The ferry was leaving just as we sat down.

Even though the summer has been warm, there are still glaciers in the Olympics.

Smoke from the first wild fire we saw. There are very few roads in the mountains so they pretty much let the fire burn itself out.  A ranger explained that it is really part of the eco-system.  I think it is still hard to see.

 Another fire.

This is typical of the lovely views!

Thanks so much for joining me today. The next post will be all cross stitch!

  2. Happy Anniversary! I love your photos. We're going to be passing through the area next month, on a train from Vancouver BC to Portland. We've been to Seattle twice, and just love the beauty of the whole area.

  3. What a lovely trip for your anniversary! My daughter Melanie was in that area last week for the Paint the Peninsular Plein Air event - she won "Best Landscape"! She loves going over for the change in scenery. :)

  18. What a lovely vacation trip. I remember as a kid taking a ferry across the Straits of Juan de Fuca. A nearly empty ferry and very stormy weather. My brother & I amused ourselves by seeing how far we could walk unaided down the aisle of the ferry before pitching sideways with the rocking of the boat. I'm sure we looked like to miniature drunks - obviously did not suffer from sea-sickness!
