Beautiful Flowers

Yesterday afternoon we took a walk in the woods in the back of our yard.  This is green belt property and it has been left very natural.  The trilliums were just beautiful.  We were suppose to get rain all day today.  Instead, it was quite sunny. Go figure!  We got out in the yard this afternoon and I took some pictures of our bleeding hearts.  They are lovely right now.  I want to welcome a few new followers.  I appreciate all of you who take time to look at my blog.  I hope it's a great week for everyone!!

 This is the area behind our house.  It is quite steep but there is a trail.


 The lovely white wild trillium.





 Here are early sword ferns.


 A purple trillium.


 We have two varieties in our yard.  This one was transplanted from a house belonging to our son and daughter-in-law.


 We also have a bleeding heart with chartreuse foliage.


Here you see a famous resident of the Pacific NW, the banana slug! They come in various colors,beige,black, and greenish. They love to eat your plants!!!

    Hey, I was looking for Big Foot to come walking out of the forest! LOL Oh, my, I don't miss the slugs!! I remember the rainy day I was learning to ride a bike in 3rd grade at my cousin's house up in Bonney Lake up the hill from Sumner, I fell in the ditch into a bunch of weeds and got a slug on my arm. I quickly ditched the bike and went screaming all the way back to my aunt's house where my mom was and they got it off but I still had some grayish ugly mark that took a while to come off. I suppose they didn't have a good remedy/cleaner in those days. My sister used to pour salt on them and watch them curl up. I sure don't miss those slimy things! Love your flower pictures!

    The flowers are just fabulous! I miss those here in Arizona. So homesick for Missouri when I see these kinds of photos. Just beautiful!

    I was so enjoying "our" walk, Barb, until we spotted that slug! Ugh--they are just so slimy and that has to be one of the largest I've ever seen!! The flowers so remind me of my dear grandmother--we used to take long walks in the woods trying to spot various wildflowers :)

    In defense of the honorable banana slug, I have to say that they typically don't eat garden plants, but prefer to dine on decomposing forest materials and mushrooms. They are an integral part of our diverse ecosystem here in the Pacific Northwest - hooray for slugs!

    The trilliums and bleeding hearts are beautiful!

    Nice photos! Lovely backyard, looks a real jungle and very inspiring. I like plants, flowers even banana slug very much.
