Seeing Seattle like a tourist

This last week the DH's Granddaughter was visiting.  Of  course, she wanted to see Seattle.  It was lots of fun seeing this lovely city from the point of view of a tourist.  Enjoy! By the way, at the end I do have a picture of the framed "This is the Day."

This is called Gas Works Park.  You can see the skyline of the city from there.  It is also the place where the July 4th fireworks are held.

 From the Space  Needle

The fish market at Pike Place Market.

Can you believe the price of that salmon??!!

Now these are very tasty sauteed in a little butter.

My favorite part of the market is the flowers!

I had never seen fringed poppies.

This is not my idea of the perfect frame but the size was perfect so out went the old picture!

Thanks so much for joining me today!!

  1. Seems like I don't get much chance to travel, so I always enjoy your pictures. Wow, those are some prices on the salmon and halibut cheeks! Bet they are delicious though. :) I think the frame goes well with the colors in This is the Day.

  2. I love to visit Seattle a couple of times a year - to wander in the Pike Place Market in winter is such a treat as there are always flowers and colourful goods, and a cup of delicious coffee at the end of the shopping trip.

  5. It's always fun to see your home city through the eyes of visitors, isn't it, Barb? Seattle looks like a great place to add to my "must-visit" list! I thought salmon would be cheaper out your way--gosh!! And my husband must eat it 3 or 4 times a week!!

Your framed piece is lovely--you're right the size and color of it are perfect for your beautiful finish!

  7. Your framed 'This is the Day' turned out beautiful! Congrats!! You live in a beautiful area. I don't think I would be brave enough to buy some of the more exotic seafood to prepare... squid..for instance. But what a great market! I would enjoy the flowers the most also.

  9. Love Seattle!!! I remember visiting Seattle when I was much younger and my Mum would not let my brother and I go up the Space Needle. Thanks for allowing me to finally see Seattle from up there!

    Love the stitching!

  10. Now I'm homesick - for Halibut cheeks and Copper River Salmon - I got that last year at Albertson's for $9.99 a pound. I do enjoy visiting Seattle.
