Cross Stitch and Spring!

Greetings to all of you my dear "cloud friends!" Actually that is what my DH calls all of you, my cloud friends. I think that fits pretty well.  Last Fall I joined the Ladies Prim Society at Dyeing to Stitch.  I had seen so many wonderful designs coming from that group.  My biggest problem is I often want a different color or size of linen.  I still think it is worth it to get the charts!.  After all, this addiction is much cheaper that alcohol or drugs.(I'm very good at rationalizing). Last Fall Blackbird designs put out a chart called Bittersweet September. I am now working on that design. I have looked all over for the one that came out in 2013 but I can't find it.  I do understand about belonging to the group and I'm happy to have done that again this year(2015) .  It's a bit out of season, but I am loving the design!
At the end of the post, I have included a few more pictures of our amazing and beautiful spring!  I hope you enjoy seeing them.

I chose to stitch this on 32ct.  The kit included a piece of 36 ct.  I will use that later.  I had to buy some  floss as I knew that I would be doubling the amount of floss that I would need by stitching with 2 strands instead of one.  I did use the colors that the kit called for.  They are wonderful warm Autumn colors. This border has really been fun to stitch .  I'm still not finished with it.  No frogging yet! Yea!

Some eyelet stitches go in the spaces by the gold flowers.

We planted these bulbs last fall and lost the package.  We are not sure what they are.  They are tiny and very close to the ground.

This is the end of our daffodils.  I will miss them.

The bleeding heart is full of flowers.

This is my second one.  I love the chartreuse color of the leaves.

Thanks so much for joining me today.  I so appreciate the time you take for blogging!  Have a very Happy week-end!

  12. I often change fabric, even when it is supplied in a kit. I love to see bleeding hearts - they are such a vibrant colour. Lovely spring flowers.

  13. Your season of Spring has such a jump on ours! That mystery flower looks like a crocus, one of my favorites. Have fun with the BBD piece. That particular piece was not one of my faves because of the specialty stitching (eyelets, over one), so it did not get done by me! You have made a great start--look forward to seeing more progress. Hugs!

  14. Incredible spring pictures! We are rainy, windy and very damp here. The snow has gone (yay!) and hopefully the sun will show itself to dry up the ground. Spring here is a messy affair - very soggy ground everywhere. I love the project! Believe it or not, I found a stitching place here in our city and contacted them to see if they give classes. They don't give classes, but she said that if I come down and buy a small project they will teach me right then and there. Or alternatively I could bring in my project I have and they will teach me on that for $5. I think I will go down and buy a small (easier) project to start with and get help! Have a great week!

  16. How perfect - cloud friends!!! 😀. Your stitching is lovely - the colors are amazing!! I As stitchers, I think we often find ourselves stitching "out of season".... I don't think many of us wait until November or December to do our Christmas stitching... Let me rephrase that, I don't think many of us wait unless we are rocket-fast Stitchers! Lol
Your bulbs are beautiful - they look so happy!
As for not knowing what they are, as Shakespeare wrote, "a rose by any other name...." 🌹

  21. Your mystery flowers look like species tulips. I had some for several years before they vanished. They are the only tulips I can grow due to our large deer population. Enjoy them. Our crocus are struggling to bloom here in Maryland.

Lovely new start, Barb, and oh, how I long to see a single bloom here before Easter. It doesn't look like that's going to happen, though...

Wishing you a truly lovely Easter weekend!
