A Finish, A Start, and a Walk!

I hope this has been a great week-end for all of you.  It has been spectacular here.  Actually a taste of summer with sun and temps in the 70's.  We have spent lots of time outside getting the deck and the yard ready for summer.  In the yard, we put up the bird bath and fountain.  Tomorrow we plan to fertilize all the plants.  That's going to be a big job!!
In the stitching realm, I finished one design and started a new one.  We all seem to have different habits for stitching.  I generally do one design at a time.  I stitch almost every evening from 7:30 or so till about 10.  My DH loves TV, I can take it or leave it except for a few programs.  Anyway, that's how I got started stitching in the evening.  I would do more at times during the day but good old arthritis only lets me stitch for a few hours a day.
I'm also including a few pictures we took from a walk last week.  We went to a state park called Penrose Point.  It's about a 2 mile walk and much of it is through the woods and often there are water views.  It's a very pretty walk.

Bittersweet September is all finished!  This is a BBD  from the Ladies Prim Society.  The only changes I made were the linen, 36 ct. to a 32 ct.and the color of the pot on the roof. I am trying a new finish for this design.  I will show you as I get it finished.  I'm not in a hurry as I will most likely use this in the Fall.

The start of Mary Jane Smith, and I did the traditional happy dance when the border met up just right! I think this is going to be a fun sampler to stitch.  Did you notice, no house?  After the huge white house and the house in Bittersweet September, I am taking a break from houses.  However, not for long as I love houses in samplers!!

Two big apple trees and no house!

We loved the way the clouds were reflected in the water.

Dead trees provide homes and food for the wild creatures and the birds.

Have a great week and thanks for joining me!

  3. OH, what a beautiful BBD finish you have here. I can also stitch fall designs all over the year, they are all so nice because of all these fall colours they usually have. Nice new sampler that you started.
It's always a delight to see the pictures that you take during your walks and trips.
Have a wonderful day today in your garden.

  9. Bittersweet September is beautiful...love that border! And your new start is so pretty...those birds are a hoot! Every once in a while I actually do a piece without a house...makes me feel like a renegade...LOL...have a great week. And yes baseball is a very long season. My team is the Cincinnati Reds and they are killing me already this season.

  13. A great finish, I'm looking forward to seeing how you finish it.
I used to be a OAAT (one at a time) stitcher but then I started doing SALs and Challenges which necessitated more than one project at a time! I'm still happier focusing on one piece for a length of time.

And speaking of spectacular...wow! What a breathtaking walking route you had. Thanks so much for sharing your photos with us.

  19. That is an awesome finish!! The house is gorgeous and the colors just sing out "this is Autumn!!". Beautiful. Well, I will eventually get down to the shop that will teach me - my husband is recovering from surgery so my time is being nursemaid to him for now! Your walk pictures are just beautiful! We are snowing today. Yes indeed, after temps in the 20's last week (celcius) we are snowing. Oh Canada!! :)

  20. Your stitching habits sound a lot like mine, Barb. But we're the opposite when it comes to TV--my husband hates it and I love to have it on when I stitch :)

Your finish is lovely and I'm so envious of your time in the garden. We had a few nice days last week, but now it is chilly again.

  21. Great finish! Looking forward to how you finish-finish it now! And absolutely love the reflection picture! Wow! I am not working now, so I could have lots of time to stitch... and sometimes I actually do! I like the tv on or else listening to podcasts or books. We are all multi-taskers!

  22. A lovely finish. Looks like you had beautiful weather for your walk. I don't 'watch' many programs either, preferring to have something that I can listen to on the TV instead.
