Back Home!

Hi there cloud friends.  I hope all is well with you.  My DH and I just got back from a trip to Chicago. Now you might wonder why anyone would leave the cool and lovely NW for a trip to Chicago in August??? Well, very dear friends celebrated their 50th Anniversary.  The lady has been my friend for many years.  She has delt with unbelievable health issues and she and her husband have the most amazing attitude.  We decided it was worth the trip to celebrate with them.  Plus, we visited with my DH's sweet sister and her family and a wonderful friend that I grew up with.  Lots of visiting, great seeing old friends and family.  Of course, I took full advantage of being near brick and mortar cross stitch shops.  I spent hours in both The Inspired Needle in Lemont and The Country Cupboard in Orland Park.  I loved them both and the ladies in the shops were wonderful. (Did I ever tell you that my DH is a saint? He just sat with a book and did not hurry me at all).  Today I will share my stash. My next post will show the airplane stitching I did!

This was all from Hobby Lobby.  We don't have one near us and I love homespun.  I think it works well with finishing cross stitch pillows and ornaments.  It was on sale and all very cheap!

I found this adorable fabric in a quilt shop.  I already have some plans on how I will use it.

Here are a few of the linens I bought. As usual, they look much better than they are showing on the photo.

The Country Cupboard had a whole room with Halloween designs.  I tried but temptation got the better of me!!!

I have missed some of your blogs but have enjoyed trying to catch up.  There will be fewer comments than usual from me but  I'm back and will be catching up.  Thanks for joining me today!

  8. Glad you had a good trip! I purchased a bunch of homespun I got when Hancock Fabrics was going out of business. Just need to stitch more! I look forward to seeing what you stitch and finish with yours! How nice that your husband is patient while you were in the shops. Not sure mine would be patient for hours! Look forward to your next post! Hugs!

  12. What a treat it must have been to celebrate with friends and..........go to real needlework shops! Even our lovely little shop in Victoria has cut back on its cross stitch patterns and I miss being able to browse. I will be down in Lynwood in September and will be sure to visit Hobby Lobby.
We didn't make it your way with the boys. We ran out of time! I will, however, remember where you are and get in touch if there is ever a chance we could meet for coffee in passing.

  13. Nice to know you had a great time with family and friends and enjoyed shopping new stash as well:)
My husband helps me choose colors if it is easy and a straightforward task, otherwise he sits in the shop if there is space else in his car but he never asks me how much more time I need.

  14. Oh, how nice to see a two genuine needlework shops in person, Barb! And I just love your new finishing fabrics. We have a Hobby Lobby about 40 minutes away, but I rarely get there. I do love the Halloween kitty fabric--that is perfect for you and I can't wait to see how you use it :)

Glad you survived the Chicago heat--our weather is much like theirs so now you know what we've been experiencing this summer. Today, the humidity broke and it is like heaven :)

    Enjoy your week!

  16. So great to read about your trip to Chicago to celebrate your friend's 50th wedding anniversary. And to visit with family which is always a special treat when we don't see each other very often.

Oh my, Barb, what a haul you brought home from those two LNSs. These fabrics are just wonderful, particularly the stitching fabrics. I also add to my stitching fabric whenever I can although I already have boxes full of them. But new colours are always very tempting. Great new charts as well. I also have Fancey Blackett and the Sunflowers and kitted it up long ago. It might be time to stitch it this fall. Seeing yours grow will encourage me to stitch on mine.
