Jo's Big Birthday Blog Hop!

Hi there cloud friends!  I have agreed to participate in Jo's Big birthday blog hop.  We were each given a year in Jo's life.  My year is 2000!!!! First, I never stay up until mid-night on New Year's, that year I did because I was concerned about all the hipe! Well, as you all know nothing happened!  So off to a good year.  I was living in Louisville , KY.  Several years earlier I had gotten my Master's in Gifted Ed.  My dream had been to work with gifted elementary school students.  I was teaching at Kentucky Country Day School.  This was one of my favorite teaching positions.  I taught all the children K-4 a program called enrichment.  I was also able to work with the highly capable students.  Just to give you an example, I had a first grade student who was reading at the 9th grade level.  It was a wonderful challenging position!  In fact I stayed at this job until I retired and moved to Washington. My only other big memory of that year occurred at the end of the year, the infamous 2000 election between Bush and Gore. It took weeks to determine the President!!
Jo also asked us to post a photo of a stitched piece we thought she would like.  Jo and I share a love of Halloween so that's what I chose!

Here you have Three Gables by the Cricket collection.  This piece taught me the fine art of frogging!!Do you see the whole top floor? Well this piece taught me a very valuable lesson in stitching.  NEVER ASSUME A PIECE IS SYMMETRICAL! Yes, I got to the top and it would not go to a point, had to frog the whole top floor!!!! That took a week if I remember correctly.  I do love the way it was framed . What you see is the matt in that great shape.  It had just a simple black frame.  By the way, this stays up all year in my craft room.
Well, Jo, I hope this covers the year 2000 for you.  Have a great day and many happy returns!!!!

I hate frogging it has happened to me to many times now so I do not have to frog, guess what even counting three time sometimes does not help, oh gosh I must be getting old or something.

  10. It was nice to find out a little more about you, Barb. Your teaching position sounds interesting - I think that would be my favorite age range to work with. I'm sorry you had such a tough time (glad you persevered)with Three Gables - it's a cute piece!

  11. So lovely to read your story of the year 2000, Barb. And the Haunted House looks so gorgeous. But that the frog was visiting when you were stitching it was not very nice. I have it in my stash for years but haven't started it yet.
