First, I would like to thank you for all the very kind comments on John Foster. I will have him finished tomorrow. I'm thinking of a small to make into a little summer pillow for my next project. Our summer has been very cool and cloudy. I think we have had only 3 days in June in the 70's. They are calling it Junuary or the June Gloom. We were beginning to complain. So yesterday the weather lady showed a map of the temps in the country! Wow. it's HOT! So no more complaining from me!! Yesterday it was 76 so we went to a new beach. The last time we worked at the lighthouse, a lady told us about this beach. It's only about 45 minutes from our house. It's called Kopachuck State Park. The beach was full of amazing things.
Here is a view from the shore. This park is located near a town called Gig Harbor.
This is a live sand dollar. All those sparkling things you see are little moving feet.
We saw lots of these little crabs, all different colors!
Have you ever seen so many star fish??!! It was almost creepy. It reminded me of snakes.
Such amazing colors!
This poor guy is missing a few arms.
He was watching over the beach.
I hope this field trip has cooled you off a bit. Thanks so much for taking a look!
Oh Wow! What an awesome day you had. I always find it amazing when I find a LIVE sand Dollar. Very cool pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely beach - the mountains, the eagle, all the tide pool critters - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBarb, what a lovely blog you have. I discovered it through Edgar's blog. I recognized some of the various sights especially the ones in Victoria. I loved all the pictures you took of the various starfish and sanddollars - I have never seen a live one - lucky you.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work. Louise

Thanks for sharing this. It is so hot here right now. I hate it when it gets into the 90's :( We could use some rain too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely park. It is amazing to see all those creatures.

ReplyDeleteYes, we are frying here in the east, Barb! It was 90+ degrees three days in a row. Finally, last night the weather broke and it is a comfortable 74. Whew!! We need rain badly if you have any to spare :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the wildlife photos--especially the proud eagle!
Beautiful photos, Mom! I'll have to go visit this lovely beach someday. Boy, you and Dad sure do know how to get out and enjoy this beautiful place where we live!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a live sand dollar before (I thought they were more like shells). Great photos, made me wish I lived closer to a beach.
