EAGLES!

We are having very low tides right now.  I think it is due to the closeness of the moon.  We have a beach about 20 minutes from our home that is especially desirable to eagles who love to feed there at low tide.  We saw at least 4 different birds.  Some friends saw 14!  I hope you enjoy seeing our national bird eating lunch!

A bit of competition from a crow!

Now there are two!

If you can take your eyes away from the eagles, this is the view.

I am more than happy to put up with the NW rain to have an experience like this! Have a wonderful week!

  9. Wow! They are such powerful animals aren't they? I have seen eagles before although they are not too prominent around our cottage, but I am in awe every time I see one. Lovely view too!!

  13. The eagles are just awesome Barb! I cannot imagine seeing 14 at one time. Easy pickings for them as the tide moves out like that.

  14. Wow, how awesome to see your national bird up close! As you may know New Zealand's national bird is the flightless and nocturnal Kiwi, so not much hope of seeing one of those in the wild :-)

  16. Beautiful view, beach and I love seeing your photos! Eagles are amazing to watch. Our trip to the Mississippi River in freezing February to Eagle watch was the first time we've had a close up view of these great birds. I've heard that some Eagles stay along the Mississippi River all year, but we haven't been back so I don't know if that's true.
