A Big thanks and Cross Stitch!!

I have read it often that the blogging and stitching communities are full of nice people.  Well, I am the proof that it is true.  So many of you took time , not only  to read about my "grinch" visit at Christmas , but commented and wished me well. I realize that it is such a busy time, I was moved to tears to think you took time to visit my blog and many of you commented.  THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  It felt so good to get enough energy to finally get to the computer and then to read your comments. Thanks to all the well wishes and some very good medicine and LOTS of water, I am much better.  Still a lot of coughing but that part just takes time.  I tried to drown it with water and the Dr.  said that was one of the best things I could do.(FYI, just in case the Grinch finds you).
I do have a few pictures to share.  On the day after Christmas, the DH(who is now in the clutches of the Grinch) took me for a little ride.  I have also continued to work on Margaret Cottam, and I have my New Years stitch picked out.

A few more days, and Margaret will be finished.  I have made lots of color changes.  If you do have any questions, I'd be happy to share.

I love the little scene at the bottom. It is hard to believe she was only 9 years old!

This is my New Year's choice.  The words are the old weather saying," Red at night, Sailor's delight......." This has special meaning for me.  My dad was an amateur sailor and built two of his own boats.  When I was a little child, he always recited this to me ,so  this was a project I wanted to stitch.

Our beautiful Olympics, finally with some much needed snow!

The bridge at the bottom of the picture is called The Hood Canal Bridge.  It connects the Kitsap Peninsula(where we  live) with the beautiful Olympic Peninsula.

Thank you again for all the well wishes.  I hope all of you have a very happy and most importantly a healthy 2015!!

  2. I just read your previous post Barb and I am so sorry that you wer ill at Christmas. No fun! Your new project sounds like a delight. I made your little mitten pattern six times in December - so sweet. I haven't forgotten your Santa with an umbrella. We have had some huge challenges over fall and winter - our son is very ill and I am in Alberta caring for his children so that his wife can stay at the hospital. We never know what's around the corner.

  15. SO glad to hear you are on the mend! Sorry to hear about the Grinch clinging to your husband! How nice to share! :) There is a nasty flu going around here, so far (touch wood) I have not met it yet. I hope I don't either!!! What a beautiful stitching! That is one of our most favorite sayings around here! We are in the grip of a nasty cold snap. -43 celcius this morning with the wind. :(

  16. Glad your feeling better being sick is ok when you can at least stitch, but when you feel so bad that it cuts in to ones stitching you know it's time to get better! I love how Margaret is looking and so close to finished that is such a love time in the stitching process

  19. So good to read that you are much better by now. And I hope that your DH can say the same very soon.

Your sampler is looking gorgeous, what a wonderful design. Yes, it's unbelievable that girls at that tender age were already stitching such delicate designs. I wonder if they always loved doing it.

Your new start for 2015 is right after my taste. I *love* Prairie Schooler and intend to stitch a couple of the ones I have in the new year, too. And of course there will be some Santas among them.

Happy New Year to you and to your husband.

  24. So glad you are feeling better. That flu is nasty. I'm kind of glad I've been out of the social scene so I don't get it. (Fingers Crossed)
Your Margaret looks great. Mine is close to being done too and I should just push through and finish her. The scene at the bottom is a little bit of wonderful. Take good care now and hope DH feels better soon too.

  25. Ugh! I'm so sorry to read that both you and your husband have been dealing with the flu, Barb... It is so scary and I'm worried that my husband now may have it. He is sicker than he's been in a long time. I'm trying to stay away from him, but it's not easy--you can't possibly sterilize every door knob, light switch, etc! I hope you'll both be 100% very soon.

Lovely looking sampler and so close to a finish and I love the PS piece. My mom always used to recite that saying, too :)

Wishing you much good health and happiness in 2015, Barb, along with many more moments for stitching!!

    Best to you in 2015.

  27. Oh dear, Barb, so sorry to read that you have been unwell. So horrible over Christmastime. I am glad to hear that you are on the mend now. Love your new PS start - that is a great saying, isn't it?

  28. Hope that the Grinch stays away from you for the rest of the season! You have made great progress on Margaret and the PS one you picked will also be great! I still say that verse... often!! Usually around my husband, who likes to go fishing and is a constant weather watcher! Happy New Year!
