Hi Cloud Friends!( Remember that's the name my DH has given to all of you).  I hope it has been a nice week-end.  I am sure the weather has gone completely crazy.  I know rain exists because I have read about it on your blogs.  I sure haven't seen it around here for so long!!-Yes this really is the Seattle area!  Everything is turning brown unless it gets watered.  That ,plus our temps are ranging 10 degrees above normal.  I am watering my garden and that's about it.  So you will see some of the flowers that are blooming now.
I'm still working on  For Spacious Skies by Beth Twist of Heartstring Samplery.  I have made lots of changes to the cottage.  I want it to look like a Nantucket cottage so I have gone from browns to greys.  I will most likely finish it this week.
I also want to wish all the fathers a very happy day.  My DH has gone to the US Open at Chamber's Bay so he will not be around at all.  I hope he has lots of fun.  I put the photo of the St. Francis in my garden on the blog today.  This is to honor the memory of my wonderful Dad who always had one in every garden that  he grew!

I did lots more on the house last night.   The grey does show up better than on this photo.

I love day lilies.  However, we have been hit with a very nasty bug, the hemerocallis gall midge.  It deforms the buds.  These two aren't as affected as some of my other day lilies.

My DH has a great sense of humor.  He saw this little guy in a garden shop and just had to add it to the garden!

I think this has been the best year for the Mock Orange.  It is almost finished blooming and I will miss it's wonderful scent!

I love you Dad and I will always miss you.

Thanks for joining me today and have a wonderful week!

  2. Too dry and too hot! We are to be in the 9th by Thursday. That is August weather not June. All our grass around
the house (we do not have a formal lawn) is brown.

  8. Such a lovely post! My mom had a little St. Francis statue that she kept in her bedroom. I will send you some of our rain, we are having lots and that just breeds terrible mosquitoes. It seems to be the year for bugs, aphids, mites, etc. We had to dig up one of our ninebarks today due to an infestation of aphid - it was killing the shrub. So up it came and in its place is now a siberian dogwood. Have a lovely week - can't wait to see the stitching! I love anything Nantucket/East Coast/North East. My love for the Atlantic Ocean is known rather well in my family! :)

The ruffled-edge Lily is so pretty, and cute Ant!
We have spurts of rain for days, then dry for days, then rain again.
    Crazy weather this Summer.
Hope you have some rain soon and that it isn't too hot there.

  17. I'm so glad that we don't have hot temperatures over here. BUt the rain could be a bit less. On the other hand: the garden slways needs rain, as my husband usually says and he might be right. Now it just has to become a little(!) bit warmer so that the hydrangeas can start blooming. I still don't know what colour their blooms will have, lol.
You have such a wonderful garden. And I love the little ant that has gone fishing in your bird bath. I would have bought it as well :)

  18. I think that it is hot everywhere and it has been dry here too. The last 3 summers have been fairly mild so we are due for a hot one. I hate it when everything dries up. Your garden does look lovely.
I love the Heartstring piece that you are stitching!
